Topic : “Role of FNAC and Ancillary tests in Retroperitoneal tumors-Case Based Discussion.”

With an unstinted support from Sri.S.R.Reddy Sir, Hon’ble Chairman, NET, a Guest Lecture through Webinar on “Role of FNAC and Ancillary tests in Retroperitoneal tumors-Case Based Discussion.” was organized by Team, Department of Pathology on a virtual platform, Google meet, in collaboration with Medical Education Unit, on 23rd June’2025 from 11AM – 1PM at Virtual Library, Navodaya Medical College.
The session started with a brief inaugural ceremony which was presided by Dean/Principal NMC Dr. B. Devanand, Guest of Honor for the event was Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar Navodaya Education Trust, Medical Superintendent NMCH&RC Dr. Arun Kumar.N, Dr. Aanand A. S. Vice Principal, Professor and HOD Department of Pathology, Dr Rajesh Kakkeri Professor and HOD Department of General Surgery, were amongst the other dignitaries.
Dr. A.S. Aanand gave the Welcome address and Dr.Kajal BP gave a brief introduction of the Resource person Dr. Soumya Alashetty and the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.Shruti Kulkarni.
Dr. Soumya Alashetty shared her extraordinary knowledge about the retroperitoneal tumours regarding the approach and management which benefitted both the Faculty and the Post graduate students.
Highlights of the guest lecture were implications of various Retroperitoneal Malignancies which would affect the early detection & prognosis, which can make a big difference in combating retroperitoneal tumors. Research and innovation have led to ancillary tests and better outcomes.
Guest of Honor, Dr.T.Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust in his address appreciated the participation of all the faculties & PG’s of Dept of Pathology & General Surgery from both Navodaya Medical College and Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences, along with many others, online. He conveyed his best regards to Dr.Soumya Alashetty, on behalf of Management Navodaya Education Trust. He lauded the efforts of all faculties & PG’s, Dept. of Pathology & congratulated for conduction of this event smoothly.
Dr. B. Devanand in his presidential remarks appreciated Dr. Soumya Alashetty for sparing her valuable time for this guest lecture and comprehensive coverage on Rertroperitoneal tumours and informed the Dept of Pathology to engage such sessions to Postgraduate students of our Institution, even in future.
The Webinar ended with elaborative and informative Question and Answer session which enlighted and helped the delegates to comprehend useful information about the topic.
This virtual guest lecture had a huge response with registration over 100 delegates participating from Navodaya Medical College and Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences, Raichur.
The conduction of the guest lecture was highly appreciated by the authorities and deemed to be a resounding success.
