Voluntary Blood Donation Camp
World Blood Donor Day – June ‘25”
To commemorate World Blood Donor Day, a Voluntary blood donation camp was organized from 9.00AM to 5.00PM by the Blood Centre, NMCH&RC, Department of Pathology, Navodaya Medical College, Raichur, at Dr. C.M. Gurumurthy Hall, NMCH&RC on 30th June 2025.
The camp was preceded by a brief inauguration ceremony & the Inaugural function was presided by Dr. B. Devanand, Dean, NMC, Raichur. The guest of honor for the event was Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust (NET). Dr. Rajesh Kakkeri, I/C Medical Superintendent, NMCH&RC, Dr. Mallikarjun J. Reddy, CEO, NMCH&RC, Dr. Anand A. S., Professor and HOD, Department of Pathology, NMC, and Dr. Madhavi Kulkarni, Medical Officer, Blood Centre, NMCH&RC were the other dignitaries on the dias. Dr. Amruth Reddy, Member of Managing committee NET, Dr. Narayan Pendlikal, RMO, NMCH&RC, Raichur, Principals of various institutes of NET were among the other guests.
Dr. N. Prasanna, Associate Professor, Department of Pathology, NMC welcomed the gathering, Dr. Madhavi Kulkarni, Medical Officer, Blood Bank briefed regarding the occasion and DrShruti R., Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology, NMC, proposed the vote of thanks.
Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust, in his address thanked all the blood donors and highlighted the need for regular voluntary blood donation to ensure that no life is lost due to blood shortage He instructed the blood center officials to update and maintain the records of donors of all blood groups, especially rare and negative blood groups. He expressed gratitude for donating blood today and appealed to all members present to encourage others in their respective communities to volunteer to donate blood. Dean Dr. B. Devanand in his presidential address spoke about the prevailing superstitions about blood donation and the importance of availability of safe blood in various critical situations like accidents, childbirth, medical and surgical emergencies.
Three Donors from Navodaya group of institutions with maximum number of blood donations were felicitated by the dignitaries for their generosity and commitment which plays a crucial role in healthcare.
The theme for the occasion was “Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives,” and the event served to thank and recognize voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood and also to promote a culture of regular blood donation among young people and increase the diversity and sustainability of the blood donor pool.
A total number of 60units of blood were collected from the voluntary blood donors which included faculties, students and staff of Navodaya group of Institutions and others from Raichur. The conduction of the entire camp was highly appreciated by the authorities and deemed to be a resounding success.
