Navodaya Medical College Hospital & Research Center, Raichur, celebrated National Doctor’s Day – 2025 with enthusiasm and reverence at the Dr. S. R. Hegde Silver Jubilee Auditorium on Friday, 25th July 2025. The event highlighted the indispensable role of doctors in society and recognized their tireless service and commitment to healthcare.
The celebration was presided over by Dr. B. Devanand, Dean and Principal of NMCH&RC.
The Chief Guest, Sri. Jubin Mohapatra, IAS, Commissioner, Raichur City Corporation, addressed the gathering with an inspiring message, appreciating the dedication of medical professionals in building a healthier nation.
He stressed the critical role of doctors in the healthcare system and emphasized that while technology and AI are advancing rapidly, they will never replace the human touch, empathy, and clinical judgment that doctors bring to patient care. He encouraged the medical fraternity to embrace innovation while staying rooted in compassion.
Following the Chief Guest’s address, Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust, Raichur, delivered a meaningful message. He lauded the exemplary services of the senior-most doctors who were felicitated during the occasion, recognizing their decades-long dedication and selfless contribution to the medical field.
He advised the younger generation of doctors to emulate these stalwarts, not only in professional expertise but also in showing empathy and commitment to the healthcare system, underscoring that true medical excellence includes compassion and patient-centered care.
Earlier in the program, Dr. Venkatesh M. Patil, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology, delivered the inclusive welcome address, stating that “this day is dedicated to honoring those who have committed their lives to the healing of others.”
He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Chairman of Navodaya Education Trust, Sri S. R. Reddy Sir, for his exceptional and unstinted support towards healthcare and medical education, which he described as “one of its kind initiatives in the entire Kalyana Karnataka region."
Dr. A. S. Aanand, Vice Principal and Professor & Head of the Department of Pathology, delivered a detailed overview of the significance of National Doctor’s Day.
He reflected on the evolving challenges faced by the medical community and urged all doctors to remain united in combating the rising atrocities and violence against medical professionals, despite their tireless and selfless service to society.
The celebration also featured a felicitation ceremony honoring eminent doctors for their exceptional contributions to the medical field. The recipients included:
- Dr. G. A. Manjunath – MBBS, MD (Pediatrics)
- Dr. Javali N. S. – MBBS, MD (General Medicine)
- Dr. R. H. Chavadaki – MBBS, MS (Orthopedics)
During his presidential remarks, Dr. B. Devanand extended his sincere appreciation to Sri. Jubin Mohapatra and the District Administration for their ongoing efforts in ensuring efficient sanitary and healthcare services in Raichur and its surroundings.
He assured that Navodaya Medical College will continue to join hands with district authorities in extending and strengthening public healthcare services, thereby fulfilling its social responsibility.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sanjeev Chetty, Professor and Head of the Department of Pediatrics, followed by the National Anthem. A fellowship lunch marked the end of the successful and well-received celebration.
