Anatomy is a branch of medicine that studies the structure of living things. Human anatomy is primarily the scientific study of the physical structure and appearance of the adult human body.
The broad goal of the teaching of undergraduate students in Anatomy aims at providing comprehensive knowledge of the gross and microscopic structure and development of human body to provide a basis for understanding the clinical correlation of organs or structures involved and the anatomical basis for the disease presentations.
Anatomy is subdivided into gross anatomy and microscopic anatomy. While gross anatomy is the study of anatomical structures that can be seen by unaided vision, microscopic anatomy is the study of minute anatomical structures assisted with microscopes. The department is actively introducing advanced learning and teaching methods into the under graduate and post graduate teaching.
The Department is very much equipped with
Microtomes, hot air oven, embalming machines for cadavers, computers, automatic tissue processor, various anthropometric instruments etc. are available.
